December 30th, 2007 - Virgin Birth

Good Lord's Day morning.   The New Year is up on us. Christmas was almost a disaster.  Powerman's son, Steve, was in a wreck.  The Butcher's son was shot. That was just Christmas night!  I hope all will find a safe place to bring in a the New Year.   You could come to mine and Evelyn's house to play 42 (if you need something fun and safe to do). Keep praying for all even if they are not on a special prayer list. During the meantime, continue to pray for Blu’s Dad (he seems to be doing better), for Ken and now for Drew Sutton's recovery.

Last week we talked about the birth of Jesus, but we stopped short of attempting to prove the virgin birth. This week, we will attempt to point out the substance and evidence that make those of believe stand up and defend the Immaculate Conception. Remember Heb. 11:1 “faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen”. Also remember Rom 10:17 “faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God." The Bible takes us on a walk through the History of man until the establishment of the New Covenant.  During this trip, several facts are established Brides had to be purchased from the family today we give them away. Secondly since they were purchased they literal were considered property of the man yet the period form purchase to claiming for your own maybe several years perhaps your father made a deal for you a wife from one of his best friends when you were young . If that happened she new she was yours and you knew she was yours but you did not come together until there was a wedding feast which was a celebration of lost of virginity. The bride was "espoused" or "betrothed". This is the period the church which is the bride of Christ is in now she has been purchased by the blood of Christ. The young man did not claim his bride until he was able to provide her a home. When and only when he was able to be a man and not just play a man did they claim their bride. When Jesus is ready to claim his bride the end of time will come. Now all this is good but everyone knows young men and women are not always what they are supposed to be. Now add a few more fact's about the times if you purchased a virgin and after the wedding you were not convinced she was a virgin you could challenge the family to prove she was for she was to be stoned to death for playing the roll of the whore in her father's house. Well if the fellow didn’t complain then no big deal. I'm not thru yet it was a disgrace for a man to have a woman that had been with another man for his wife unless she was a second wife which was a widow are divorce. And if he divorced her and she married another he could not take her back. Now read Matt.1:19 and you will believe Mary was the virgin she was suppose to be, because Joseph was going to divorce her the only way he could cancel the purchase agreement when he found her to be with child that was not his.   Chaplain Tex
