September 29th, 2007 - Wolf in
Sheep’s Clothing
Morning brothers and
sisters - Those of you that get the early edition are the only one that
will get this Sunday's address by Sunday. H.Q. is on the move. The
Commander does not expect to have H.Q.'s computers on line again until
Tuesday or Wed. He has his mobile phone if you need him. Otherwise, H.Q.
will have a different landline number soon.
This morning I ask you
to turn your attention to Matthew.7:15 where Jesus, during the sermon on
the mount, said "Beware of false prophet's who come to you in
sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves."
This, my brothers, is why we are spending so much time just getting to
know our way around the Bible. Because whether you like it or not, we
must not stick our heads in the sand and figure everyone that totes a
Bible is a Gospel preacher.
Recently, Ken Waymire
(I think it was him), sent me an email about sheep, sheepdogs, and
wolves. It was a great piece that explained to some weak- kneed liberal
that we we're not war mongers, but sheepdogs choosing to protect such
sheep as them from the wolves and that the wolves were real whether the
sheep wanted to realize it or not
The same is true when
it comes to religion. People, for a whole list of reasons, are false
teachers. Some truly work for the devil - 2 Corinthians 11:14-15
"And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an
angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also
transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be
according to their works." Others for money Jude 11
"Woe to them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, have run
greedily in the error of Balaam for profit and perished in the rebellion
of Korah." Still others are honestly mistaken Acts18:24-26
"Now a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an
eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures came to Ephesus. This man had
been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervant in spirit, he
spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only
the baptism of John.So he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When
Aquila and Priscilla heard him, they took him aside and explained to
him the way of God more accurately." If you will follow
that story into the 19th chapter, you will see that when Paul arrived at
the scene that he found a dozen men that had believed and was baptized
according to John and that wouldn't cut it. That baptism had not placed
them into Christ! So you see, it really doesn't matter their motive, if
we believe what they teach.
Second Timothy 2:15
"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth
not to be ashamed, rightly divining the word of truth." Acts 20:28-31
"Therefore take heed to yourselves and to the flock, among which the
Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which
He purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my
departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things to
draw away the disciples after themselves. Therfore watch and remember
that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day
with tears."
Brothers and sisters
it's your soul take seriously this oppurtunity to encourage honest Bible
study "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the
devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour;"
May the Lord continue to be
long-suffering with us all not willing that any should perish, but that
all of us may grow in the knowledge of his love and his doctrine that in
the end we might hear well done thy good and faithful servant.
In Christ I pray, AMEN Chaplain Tex
